A good deal on shopping

This weekend I went to Party City to check the Halloween costumes (great spot for that!) and when I dropped the subway, I received a message on my iPhone from Macy`s (the subway is right in the corner with this store). The message was about a Ralph Lauren Kids event that was happening in the store, they were inviting me to get into the store and participate. How could they knew that I was right in corner? Well, they are doing their homework pretty well. When I first downloaded Macy`s app, I received this message:

Since then, every time I`m near a store, one message pops up on my screen. The good thing about it is that most of the times, it`s a message about a very good deal on kids category (they must know that I mainly go there to buy kids stuff) so I end up getting into the store to check it out. The idea is that different people receive different messages as they roam the aisles.

I found out that they also have a partnership with the app Shopkick, so even if you don`t have a Macy`s app, they can locate you through shopkick (of course you must have this app). The presence recognition with devices works through beacon. According to mediapost.com, “when the Macy’s beacons are activated, as shoppers enter a store, shopBeacon will send to anyone with the Shopkick app on their phone a message reminding them to open the app. Rather than receiving deals or coupons for specific products based on location, shoppers can be routed to different departments where they can be rewarded by receiving more kicks, which can be cashed in at a number of stores, such as Best Buy, Target, Crate and Barrel and, of course, Macy’s.”

I`m gonna download this Shopkick app right now and look for savings and deals! I`ll let you know if is worthy 😉

My digital routine

I was challenged to track my “moves” during a few days. In the beginning I thought I knew exactly what my routine was but some activities really surprised me! I ended up finding out that i`m quite addicted to my iPhone :p Check it out!

  • Sometimes (ok, most of the times) I have my iPhone on my hand. Even when i go to the bathroom to take a shower, I carry my phone with me (why? To listen Pandora while bathing and to sing a lot).

  • I order a looooot of food. I check seamless many times during a day and use the app a lot! During the weekend, I order breakfast, lunch and pizza for dinner.

  • There`s always an order from Amazon to arrive in my house. So I check at least twice a day my building app (it tells me when a package arrives) and also Amazon app to track my orders and buy new stuff. It`s a lovemark for me! #amazonlover

  • As a mom, I`m always in need of formula and diapers, so Diapers.com app is definitely a must have in my life. I usually don`t interact a lot with the app, I only reorder my past order pretty fast. They do a great job on delivering in 24 hours but I think I could buy more from them (different stuff) if they offered me useful products without having to search for them (Amazon does that all the time with the “recommended for you” and I like it because it saves a lot of time on researching). Babies are always moving to the next step, each month means a new introduction of something, so we never stop buying. Moreover, we need to research all the time so an app like Diapers.com, specialized in baby products, should definitely offer a “package” for each baby step and facilitate my life.

  • Of course, I have my relax moments too. During those (short, but precious) moments, I love to check my instagram and Facebook. I actually check those social media many times a day (while cooking, walking, waiting for the subway etc). I don`t interact a lot on Facebook, I like the channel to read great articles and opinions. I do interact a lot on instagram where I love to post pictures of my little baby ❤ and comment on my friend`s pictures. I think the sponsor posts that they have are very well designed for the audience. At least in my case, I usually feel interested on the posts and end up starting following the page (For example, yesterday one if the sponsor posts was a post from DisneyWorld and I`m totally addicted to DisneyWorld, how could they know that? lol)

Even though I spend this huge amount of time using my phone, I consider that, doing so, I end up saving time for better stuff. When I shop online, for instance, I can make it faster than if I had to go to the drugstore to buy diapers. That way, digital has been helping me a lot! What about you? Have you ever tracked your moves? Go try and let me know 😉

Cool Blog for moms in the city

Since I got pregnant, I started checking out some maternity blogs to get some valuable tips. I can tell you – it`s not easy at all to be a mom in the city! Small restaurants (and a very large stroller!), subways without elevator (and full of people in a hurry) just to give you few examples. But anyway, I found this blog strollertraffic.com pretty helpful as it provides really relevant tips for moms living in NYC. Even though I think the layout is a little bit confusing – too much information – the content is amazing. I highly recommend it!

As an example, click on this link to check this tip out.

It`s a place called Baby Bubbles where you can drop the stroller and they clean it for you and delivery in less than 24 hours. This is fantastic because we all know that apartments here are very small and many of the buildings don`t allow you to leave the stroller outside in the hall, so you must put it into your apartment with those dirty wheels. Not mentioning that it`s hard to keep the seat clean with a baby eating there all the time. According to the post, the company is now offering baby clothes cleaning as well.

A one-time service costs $1.48 per pound (with a 10 pound minimum); subscription services are available as well, at a discounted rate. There are extra charges for comforters ($45), stuffed animals ($15), and coats ($25).

But back to the original idea of cleaning gear: stop by with a dirty stroller, carseat, highchair—you name it—and they’ll scrub and shine that, too. Pick up Baby Bubbles’ own All Purpose Spray and Wipe (it’s formulated with plant-based ingredients and is free of GMOs, VOCs, gluten, fragrance, and detergent) ($8.49), along with other handy items like City Stork Stroller Wheel Covers ($34.99).

You should really check the link because the post is very complete yet concise. Most of their posts are like these, which I found amazing. Moms need information but are always very busy so this format is perfect.

I`ll try this service the blog recommended and I`ll come back here with an update for you guys.

Xoxo
